Meet Our Lead Instructors

Eric is a first grade teacher at Oak Grove School, and has a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in California. He's been leading surf clubs for over 15 years, and has a passion for fostering a love of surfing and the ocean, with an emphasis on safety and conservation. 

Rowan is a graduate of UCSB where he led backpacking trips for the Adventure Program that's focused on climbing, kayaking, canyoneering, group management, risk managment, and outdoor leadership skills. He was also a surf instructor for Malibu Makos. He will be working  on Catalina Island as a counselor for a school year camp before returning to Ojai for Wave Heart Surf.  Rowan is EMT and WFR (Wilderness First Responder) certified. 

Tiarnan was a surf instructor at Malibu Makos for 6 years, where he taught the 5-9 year olds. He then became an instructor for Oak Grove School's summer surf camps. Tiarnan also revamped the surf and ocean safety program at UCSB - a program that is now commonplace in the university's Adventure Program curriculum. 

Sarah is a recent graduate of UCSB  and has worked in childcare for the past eight years, with all ages. She went through UCSB’s Adventure Program curriculum and worked for their summer ropes course where she helped lead games and maintained group safety for kids 6 and up. Sarah is First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
